Why do people choose to be a surrogate multiple times?
When you decide to become a surrogate, you are agreeing to go on a journey. You know the end goal of this journey is helping someone have a baby, but the road of how we are going to get to that goal is always a mystery. The application process, the medication and transfer, and finally the relationship and delivery of the baby or even babies. All this and so much more create an adventure for so many people to go on together.
The first parts of surrogacy can seem very long, and during this time you are just waiting for records and clinics to review things to see if surrogacy is even going to be possible. When you finally find out it is the excitement, the nervousness almost creates this undescribed feeling. You are excited to start this adventure but at the same time the real work starts you have to start poking yourself for the medication and it all starts to become real. The transfer comes and let’s say it all goes perfectly and you're pregnant. You did it! Seeing the excitement on those parents’ faces makes every needle poke worth it.
Once pregnancy is started and you start hearing that baby’s heart on regularly, you start to create a bond with intended parents that no one else will ever have. The relationship is so unique that no one else can ever have that same relationship as you do with them. The day you deliver and give those parents the baby that you helped grow is a feeling that all surrogates will tell you made every sleepless night worth it, and like every other pregnancy all the negative and hard times seem to disappear.
So, I believe the surrogate does it multiple times because of the journey. The highs and the lows, and the ability to help and create happiness. If you are thinking about having your own surrogacy journey, reach out, I know so many people on our team who would love to share their journey with you.
